Pinault-Printemps-Redoute (PPR) has refused to comment on speculation that Office Depot is set to acquire its Guilbert contract stationery business, saying it never comments on rumours. The company refused to give any details on progress following its decision to sell the business, saying it is not in the interest of its shareholders to be too explicit. The Guilbert sale is part of PPR’s decision to dispose of its entire B2B division by the end of 2004 and to concentrate on business-to-consumer and luxury goods [see channelinfo.net 17-Jan-2003]. PPR confirmed that the decision to exit B2B is linked to an agreement to increase its capital in the Gucci Group. When asked about the financial contribution that PPR expects from the sale of the Guilbert business, PPR said it is letting analysts make their own estimations but the business represents Euro.
